MercyMe

MercyMe was established in Greenville, Texas as a Christian music band with an American contemporary style. This band is made up of singer Bart Millard, percussionist Robby Shaffer, keyboardist James Bryson; bassist Nathan Cochran as well as guitarists Barry Graul and Michael Scheuchzer. The band was created in 1994 and went on to release six individual albums before they were signed in 2001 to INO Records.

A crossover single of a Christian song called I can only imagine helps to make this group gain recognition in the mainstream which assisted them to promote their debut album. Over the years, MercyMe was successful in earning several Dove Awards and was nominated several times for different Grammy Award.

In 2002, the single mentioned above earned them a Dove Award for the song of the year, after the debut of their first major album after signing the record deal. But, the song only started to gain success in the mainstream by topping the sales chart of billboard 200, peaked in the charts for adult contemporary and the American Country Charts to almost getting certified for double platinum.

During 2002, the unveiled a sophomore release called Spoken For. This album has two singles namely Word of God Speak and Spoken For, which later peaked as a number one Christian song on the radio charts. Later on, the album went to be certified gold.

In 2003, Barry Graul the guitarist who was with a hard rock band called Whitecross had the opportunity to become a part of the success that the band had with the third studio album called Undone. Later on in 2004, MercyMe band was headlining the Imagine Tour along with fellow artists Bebo Norman and Amy Grant. Besides headlining this tour, this band also had the time to release a major label album. Undone produces two hits in the Top 10, which were Here With Me, which showed on the Billboards Top 100 charts in the same year and the other
one called In the Blink Of An Eye, which reaches number 5 on the R&R's top hits for worship music.

During 2009, this band was named artists for Christian songs for the 2000s. Word of God Speak song was called the Christian song of the decade and was also named as the artist of the decade for Christian Adult Contemporary Songs. They had a total of 22 songs which went on to become number one when 2009 ended and 6 of those songs ranked among the songs on the top 50.

MercyMe released their debut single album called All of Creation in January 2010. After their success on tour with The Generous Mr. Lovewell, these locals from Dallas had their dreams coming true after they were asked recently to open at the Dallas Cowboys Football game with the singing of the National Anthem for the Sunday night football. According to the latest reports, this band is getting ready to release what would be a worship album.
