Brooke Fraser biography

Born on 15 December 1983 in Wellington, Brooke Fraser burst onto the New Zealand folk-pop and Contemporary Christian scene with several performances at Parachute, an annual New Zealand Christian music festival. She went on to perform at the popular Christian music festival from 2000 to 2007. Ever since the festival, Fraser has emerged as the soulful voice of New Zealand's folk-pop and Contemporary Christian music scene. This award-winning Christian music singer-songwriter started writing music at the age of twelve. From the ages of seven and seventeen, Fraser studied piano and became a very accomplished acoustic guitar player. Teaching herself at fifteen to play guitar is just another of the very talented singer-songwriter's accomplishments. Singing came to her later on as she performed more and more throughout New Zealand in her teens. Fraser never actually took singing lessens but when it came to playing the guitar and piano, she was a nature at it. Her voice is one of the Christian contemporary music world's most recognized and celebrated in the industry.

    Brooke Fraser work

Her big break came after she moved to Auckland and gave up her job as editor of the Soul Purpose magazine in 2002. Brooke Fraser had been writing for the publication since the age of 15. Fraser's decision to move to Auckland to advance her music career paid off when Scotty Pearson, the drummer for Elemeno P, introduced her to the producer Matty J. Under the guidance of Matty J, who became her manager, Fraser sparked the attention of several record labels. No less than five labels offered Fraser a recording deal before she signed Sony Music's multi-album deal and got to work on her very first album 'What to Do with Daylight' which was released in 2003. Her lyrics, style and voice captivated millions making the album an instant success that sold over 105,000 copies in New Zealand. It went seven times platinum with all five singles released topping the top 20 New Zealand Singles Chart.

The success of 'What to Do with Daylight' led to a tour around Australia and New Zealand with American artist John Mayer. She also toured New Zealand with legendary rocker U.K. artist David Bowie. From 2004 to 2010, Fraser's rise and rise in the folk-pop and Contemporary Christian music world continues. Her tours are attended by millions over the years and her popularity grows with every appearance. Her most recent appearances were shows in Altanta, GA, Nashville, TN and Birmingham, AL. And, she performed at the annual New Zealand Winery Tour in November 2010. Sponsored by More FM!, the tour has entered into its fifth year. Fraser is already scheduled to headline next years show. Tickets for next years event are on sale now.
